The Great Park is a 1340+ acre park under construction in the City of Irvine. It will be larger than Central Park in New York and Golden Gate Park in San Francisco when it is finished.
The 2007 approved plan for the Great Park included 59 acres of garden spaces. THIS GARDEN AREA IN DANGER OF BEING ELIMINATED. At recent community meetings, the city of Irvine has excluded this use from its list of ‘priority uses’. However, the city is soliciting public input.
There are NO garden spaces in the Great Park at this time. Can you imagine a 1340 acre ‘park’ with no garden spaces? Where will children go to explore and discover, where will any of us go to connect to nature, family and friends, to find refuge from an ever more urban and stressful world?
