Coastal Corridor Alliance – Fairview Park Restoration Day

Join Forces With Your Friends & Neighbors

The Coastal Corridor Alliance (CCA), formerly Banning Ranch Conservancy, is taking the Santa Ana River Coastal Corridor (the tidal influence zone) under our wing to help clean it up and restore its habitats. Join us!

Fairview Park, Every 3rd Saturday

You and the community are invited to join CCA at Fairview Park in Costa Mesa from 9 am – 11:30 am, every 3rd Saturday for some native gardening.

We’ve adopted a degraded area in Fairview Park to restore to native habitat. We…

  • Remove invasive plants
  • Collect native seeds
  • Plant natives
  • Care for the young plants until they are established, by watering and maintaining the soil
  • Remove debris in the soil

Along the way we learn about plants we see around us and what their role or impact is on our local habitats, which animal species they attract, and more. This is an amazing opportunity for hands-on learning for how to better care for our local environment!

Also join our Thursday morning weeding party, every Thursday morning in January – July, 7 am – 8:30 am

Read on for more about the 3rd Saturdays.

“Learning about your local natural environment while donating your time is super fulfilling. Contributing to the wellness of the open space in your neighborhood that you utilize makes it all that more enjoyable.”

– Bridget Gleason, CCA FVP Volunteer

Why Do Restoration At Fairview Park?

The Santa Ana River watershed drains the water and waste of three counties, emptying into the Pacific Ocean. Fairview Park sits along the Santa Ana River estuary area, which makes it an important influence on these connected lands and waters, on into the ocean.

Cleaning up and restoring the coastal lands and waters in the SAR tidal influence zone reduces pollution from this primary regional waterway, adds native nutrients to the soil and runoff, and invites native birds, mammals, reptiles, and more back to their native habitats.

CCA is Partnering

In addition to the cooperation of the City of Costa Mesa, we’ll be adding to the great restoration work the City of Costa Mesa has been doing with Fairview Park Alliance (FVPA) every 2nd Saturday, and other ongoing restoration work being done by ICRE at Fairview Park. Show up at Fairview Park on the 2nd Saturday of the month to participate in their events, or contact FVPA for more info.
