Graduate Student Intern for a Faculty Curriculum Workshop on Teaching Climate and Sustainability
The intern will assist with the logistics and organization of a Faculty Curriculum Workshop on Teaching Climate and Sustainability to be held April 15-16, 2016 at the Steele/Burnand Anza-Borrego Desert Research Center. Specifically, the intern will help with planning, communication, and implementation of the curriculum workshop and the follow-up reporting. The appointment is expected to begin February 15, 2016 and will continue through June 15, 2016.

This faculty engagement workshop is part of the UC Climate Neutrality Initiative. The intern will be working directly with UCI’s faculty co-leaders, Jessica Pratt (Ecology and Evolutionary Biology) and Miryha Runnerstrom (Program in Public Health). Desired skills and interests:
- Interest in climate change and/or sustainability research and education
- Experience with planning and/or coordinating events, including workshops or symposia
- Comfortable organizing, leading, and/or directing small groups
- Professional written communication skills
- Willingness to interface with the co-leaders, faculty participants, reserve directors, catering companies, and others
The applicant can expect to work 5 hours per week, except for the two weeks leading up to the workshop when the applicant will work up to 20 hours per week. The applicant is required to attend the workshop in Borrego Springs on April 15 and 16, 2016.
Funding of up to $5,000 will be provided and can be taken as a GSA or stipend.
