While only 20% of building space at UCI are laboratories, they consume approximately two-thirds of total campus energy.
UCI Green Labs was recently launched campus-wide as part of UCI’s commitment to reducing the campus’ ecological footprint as we move towards our Carbon Neutral and Zero Waste goals. UCI Green Labs works with PI’s, lab managers, and students in laboratories to educate and assist the labs in the implementation of sustainable practices while conducting research. Labs that undergo and excel within the program become official UCI Certified Green Labs.
