The Druffel Lab


The Druffel Lab is an earth systems science lab that aims to understand why the radiocarbon dated age of marine dissolved organic carbon is is thousands of years old when there is evidence that it is created at ocean surface levels during photosynthesis.

  • Cold Storage:
    • Using room temperate sample storage
    • Maintaining door seals
  • Recycling:
    • Recycling and reusing cardboard
    • Setting up recycling bins for plastic, glass, and metal

    • Purchasing and using 30 – 100% recycled content paper
    • Ordering only the materials expected to be used within the next 6 months
  • Energy:
    • Turning off equipment when not in use
    • Screen savers and power-saving modes are activated on all computers
