Student Involvement

StudentsplantingThe University of California is a signatory of the American College and University Presidents’ Climate Commitment.  Among other actions, the Commitment obligates signatory campuses to “make climate neutrality and sustainability part of the curriculum and other educational experience of all students.”  At UC Irvine, we meet this commitment not only through curriculum and formal education programs, but also co-curricular education.  Co-curricular learning takes place outside the classroom–in dorms and dining halls, through freshmen orientation, community service, and mentorship.  The campus sponsors co-curricular learning through the Global Sustainability Resource Center, which buttresses the work of student-led organizations.
