A Sustainability Initiative affiliated student and faculty member will be honored at the 2016 Lauds & Laurels event — the UCI Alumni Association’s formal ceremony in which they bestow the association’s highest honors.
The 2016 Lauds & Laurels gala will be held on Thursday, May 12, from 6-9 p.m. at

Outstanding Undergraduate Student Award
This award recognizes an undergraduate student who has excelled academically and significantly participated in campus and community service programs, projects, clubs and organizations.
Cody Lee is an active member of the Global Sustainability Resource Center (GSRC) team. In 2014/15, he was a UC Carbon Neutrality Initiative fellow and student assistant at the GSRC. A Social Ecology major, he is an engaged student organizer and is deeply passionate about sustainability.

Outstanding University Service Award
Also being honored at the 46th annual Lauds & Laurels ceremony is Travis Huxman, professor of ecology & evolutionary biology, who will receive the Outstanding University Service award. This award recognizes an individual who has participated in volunteer university service programs and is engaged in the community, furthering the goals of UC Irvine or the UC Irvine Alumni Association.
Huxman is the faculty director of the UCI Sustainability Initiative. He is also the director of the Center for Environmental Biology and the Steele/Burnand Anza-Borrego Desert Research Center.
