Sustainability Opportunity: Graduate Student Communications Position
The Office of Academic Initiatives is hiring a graduate student to work on a website to promote and build an interactive forum for UC faculty working on climate- and sustainability-related topics.
Below is a summary of required experience/abilities:
- Proofing/editing ability
- Excellent writing skills
- Attention to detail
- Experience in WordPress or other blogging platform
- Interest and demonstrated knowledge in sustainability/climate change
- Excellent oral communication and networking skills in professional setting
The student will be responsible for following up and developing articles for a web-based project related to the UC Carbon Neutrality Initiative. Student must have excellent writing skills with the ability to work independently under minimal supervision. Background in design desirable, but not required.
The student will be working with faculty from across the UC system. The student will gain firsthand experience in sustainability communication and mentorship from communications professionals on the front lines of climate communication.
Start Date: To begin immediately — at the latest June 10, 2016
End Date: Flexible; at the latest June 10, 2017
Hours per week: From June 10 – August 15, approximately 25 hours per week; variable after August 15
Must be available to work during business hours from 9 a.m. to 5 p.m.
Compensation: $16 per hour
