The UCI Sustainability Resource Center and Student Housing are excited to welcome our Anteater community to a New Year with the 5th annual Sustainival! This sustainability fair will feature speakers and virtual eco-booths representing campus clubs, departments, and community organizations! Join us on Thursday, January 28th, and Friday, January 29th, 4:00-6:00pm to learn about sustainability solutions and how you can get involved.

  • introducing STUDENT SPEAKER: Lexi Hernandez Lexi is a student activist who uses the power of data and research to show patterns of environmental injustices. She studies Environmental Science & Policy, and has created a student coalition to reshape her school program to be more intersectional. She currently works with Intersectional Environmentalists to curate research that centers environmental justice + dismantles traditional education systems. Additionally she works in a research laboratory mapping health inequities that have been exacerbated by the pandemic.
  • introducing STUDENT SPEAKER: Elida Kocharian: Elida Kocharian is a graduating senior at Harvard studying Earth & Planetary Sciences and Environmental Engineering with a minor in Global Health who is passionate about environmental health and justice. Her research focuses on modeling the geological and biochemical fate and transport of environmental contaminants as well as their health effects in exposed populations, and she is currently working on quantifying PFAS and organofluorine contamination in Alaskan Arctic communities.
  • introducing STUDENT SPEAKER: Victoria Nguyen: Victoria Nguyen is a 4th year undergraduate student at UCI double majoring in Social Ecology & Education with minors in Global Sustainability & Psychological Sciences with a research background in Environmental Education for Early Childhood Education.
  • introducing keynote speaker: ADITI MAYER: Aditi Mayer is a sustainable fashion blogger behind ADIMAY.com, photojournalist, labor rights activist, and frequent speaker on topics of social and environmental justice. Her work looks at fashion and culture through a lens of intersectionality and decolonization.
