Any student, undergraduate or graduate, in the UC system is invited to submit an application to represent their campus in either the Climate Impact or Climate Solutions competitions in Palo Alto California on May 23, 2016.

Categories

Climate Impact includes research, practices, and art related to the understanding and dissemination of global and local climate change scenarios and the impact of climate change on human and natural ecosystems (terrestrial, freshwater, marine) from individual through ecosystem levels. Topics include, but are not limited to, impacts on natural ecosystems, government and economic systems, social equity, human health, and global prosperity.
Climate Solutions includes innovations, new technologies, policies, or social practices that reduce the negative impacts of climate change or help reduce climate change on local and global scales. Topics include, but are not limited to, land and water resource management, renewable energy, energy storage, energy efficiency, biomass, carbon-neutral fuels, green technology, carbon tax, and environmental policy solutions.

Cash Prizes

 
Each category will have four prizes for Carbon Slam pitches including:

  • $4000 – First Place
  • $2000 – Second Place
  • $1000 – Third Place
  • $1,000 – Peoples Choice

Prizes for poster submissions in each category include:

  • $1,000 – First Place
  • $500 – Second Place
  • $250 – Third Place

To apply, submit your three minute video submission by April 10.
