Please join Latin American Studies and the Department of History on Friday February 24 for a film screening and lecture by Prof. Jeff Gould (University of Indiana). Jeff Gould is one of the world’s leading experts on Central America and author of numerous path-breaking histories of race, labor, and political violence in Nicaragua and El Salvador. He has also worked extensively in film and other visual media. This event will feature Gould’s most recent documentary, La Palabra en el Bosque (The Word in the Woods) and a presentation on “History and Documentary Filmmaking.”

On Thursday, February 23rd, Prof. Gould will participate in a graduate seminar (History 250B) that will be discussing his book, To Rise in Darkness: Revolution, Repression, and Memory in El Salvador, 1920-1932 . This seminar is open to all interested students and faculty. [Krieger Hall 126 @ 2:00PM].
