Join us to learn about community gardening and the movement for equitable food systems in OC.
Saturday, November 16th (9 AM – 1 PM)
UCI Housing Sustainability and the Sustainability Resource Center present a Service Learning Field Trip to CRECE Cooperative in Santa Ana. We will be helping with garden maintenance and installation of a new aquaponics system.
CRECE Cooperative is a community run micro-farm. Their work concerns empowering the community through education & hands-on experience in the creation & maintenance of environmentally sustainable organic farms. Their vision to create a healthy, equitable, and sustainable food system for future generations in Santa Ana is rooted in economic development, community ownership, policy advocacy, nutrition and health, and community cohesion.
*Participants encouraged to attend a special “Service in Solidarity” speaker panel occurring at noon on November 14th in partnership with FRESH Basic Needs Hub and CRECE. Details to follow.*
