The electric utility industry is changing, and California is working through new challenges presented by progressive renewable policies. Over the next few years, California’s largest electric utilities will change the structures of retail electric rates, creating opportunities to help customers understand the impacts as well as changing the business case for energy management technologies, distributed generation, and energy storage.

Residential customers will be moved to rates based on time, instead of the aggregate based-tier system. Commercial and industrial customers will see their highest price periods shift from the middle of the afternoon to later in the day.

Andre Ramirez, UCI and MIT alum (2009 Course 15M Sloan MBA) and member of Southern California Edison’s pricing group will discuss the changes, how utilities are preparing, and what opportunities might lay ahead.

There is no cost to attend. A continental breakfast is available for $10 prepaid online. All attendees will pay for their own parking at $3.75 per hour, $15 max per day.

Online registration will close at noon on the day before the breakfast. Walk-ins are welcome, but you cannot buy breakfast as a walk-in. Guests are always welcome.
The talk, including Q&A, will be from 7:45-8:45am. Breakfast will be served buffet style at 7:30. Networking will occur before and after the talk.
