Randall Preserve / Genga Academic Engagement Workshop

UCI Nature, Orange Coast College, Coastline College, Coastal Corridor Allianceare pleased to co-host a workshop to explore opportunities for academic engagement with the planning process (and beyond) for the new Randall Preserve/ Genga. The event will happen on UCI Campus and after registering details of the location will be sent out, if there are still spots available.

The 387-acre Preserve is located at the mouth of the Santa Ana River adjacent to Newport Beach, Costa Mesa, and Huntington Beach on what had been the last large piece of undeveloped coastal habitat in Southern California. It is easily accessible by many regional academic institutions and is within an hour’s drive of nine million Californians.

This collaborative workshop is an opportunity for regional academic institutions to learn about the future of the Preserve and its current planning processes. Key discussions will include strategizing on how to engage with the planning process to create opportunities for possible multiway academic programming. The agenda will include presentations on the history of the land and its protection as a Preserve, examples of opportunities for academic engagement, and a brainstorming session to strategize on how our institutions can participate in the planning process now and set up future partnerships.
