Meet at the UCI Arboretum for a tour of what the winter rain is bringing us this spring. See the schedule below for what the day will look like:

San Joaquin Marsh Tour
8:00 am – 9:45 am
Led by Dr. Peter A Bowler, Senior Lecturer, Department of Ecology and Evolutionary Biology, this tour offers a unique experience to explore this remnant wetland on a filled canyon of the Santa Ana River ZLWK a preeminent expert.

South African Bulb Garden Spectacular
Designed to mimic mountain, desert and marsh regions, the UCI Arboretum’s world-renowned South African bulb collection was planted in 2000. See how this garden has matured over the past 15 years. Late winter/early spring provides the most spectacular display of blooms!

Ask a Master Gardener
9:00 am – 12:30 pm
Stop by the UCCE Master Gardener booth and meet part of the Hotline Team. Ask them your tough gardening questions to solve some of the mysteries of your garden.

*Butterflies Seminar
10:00 am – 11:00 am
Learn how to entice and support butterflies in your garden from a UCCE Master Gardener. This seminar will cover host and nectar plants, species found in Southern California, life cycle, migration patterns, and so much more!

*Orchids Seminar
11:15 am – 12:15 pm
Beautiful orchids are not difficult to achieve when they are given the proper care. Learn how to care for these beauties from a UCCE Master Gardener.

Exhibits 9 am – Butterflies, Orchids

  • Enjoy an extensive butterfly exhibit presented by a knowledgeable UCCE Master Gardener
  • View the Arboretum orchid collection and talk with a docent
