The Irvine Global Village Festival is September 24, 2016 from 10-6pm at Bill Barber Park, near City Hall. Now in its 15th year, this multicultural event features international cuisine, live entertainment, children’s activities, cultural exhibits, and a world marketplace. This day-long celebration — the largest multicultural event in Orange County — attracts an estimated 20,000 visitors, with attendance growing each year. This year’s theme for the UCI booth—Global Sustainability— will highlight our outstanding sustainable practices on campus, sustainability educational programs, and our global environmental research that have earned us the title of the #1 Cool School from Sierra magazine two back-to-back years and counting.
Needed: Enthusiastic volANTeers!
We need enthusiastic Anteaters to keep the energy going at the booth! Please fill out the form below to volunteer for two hour shifts and help out with the following activities:
- bicycle-powered blender with smoothie samples
- bag-making craft activity that will allow us to re-purpose prior year t-shirts
- information about UCI resources, research and innovation
- demos from our sustainability-oriented student entrepreneurs from the ANTreprenuer Center
Goals for the event:
· Enhance awareness of UCI and its many resources that benefit the local and global community, with a particular emphasis on global sustainability efforts
· Engagement opportunity for locally-based alumni, future Anteaters (extension, grad, and undergrad), students, staff, faculty, and community members
· Expand our community followers on social media, website views, and other UCI digital touchpoints — hashtags are #EcoAnteaters and #ucipride
