Richard Demerjian
Assistant Vice Chancellor
Physical & Environmental Planning
Richard Demerjian is the Assistant Vice Chancellor of Physical & Environmental Planning at UC Irvine and serves as UCI’s Campus Sustainability Officer. In this role he oversees campuswide sustainability programs, environmental planning programs, and physical and community planning.
With nearly 30 years of experience managing campus sustainability and environmental programs and projects, Richard has played a significant role in UC Irvine’s campus wide living laboratory with successful implementation of projects ranging from UCI’s green building program, green and renewable energy systems, water quality systems, urban forestry, habitat restoration and management, and sustainable transportation programs.
Richard is a registered Landscape Architect and LEED accredited professional. He holds a Bachelor’s degree in Landscape Architecture from the School of Environmental Design at California State Polytechnic University, and a Master’s Degree in Business Administration from UC Irvine.
