Sustainival

UCI has many organizations advancing sustainability on-campus, and our communities have many organizations doing this work. Come join this on-campus fair to meet all these organizations and have some fun while doing it!

Sustainival is an annual fair that celebrates UCI’s campus culture of sustainability and our status as one of the environmentally outstanding universities in the world. The event will feature booths from campus and community groups, catered lunches for the first 200 participants to complete a passport, and opportunity prize drawings.

This event has traditionally been supported by The Green Initiative Fund & Student Housing Sustainability.

How to Participate

The best way to participate in Sustainival is to show up and have a great time! Each Sustainival we have over 20 booths we different activities and giveaways to interact with. If you’re interested in being a participating booth, please see the information below.

For student organizations:

Registered Campus Organizations (RCOs) can participate in Sustainival. All RCOs can refer to this link to check event liability coverage. Any activities or games are encouraged but must go through approval.

For on-campus units, departments, and centers:

All campus units can participate in Sustainival and are encouraged to bring promotional materials. Any activities or games are encouraged but must go through approval.

For off-campus businesses, organizations, or otherwise:

All off-campus businesses, organizations, or otherwise are encouraged to participate and bring promotional materials or samples. Off-campus entities are not allowed to sale items during this event, and any food samples must be approved prior to the event. Off-campus entities will need to provide a Certificate of Insurance (COI) adherent to UCI’s policy linked here: UCI Policy Link

History

Sustainival started in 2017 to uplift the organizations on-campus and off-campus that are advancing sustainability within our community. It started as a “Sustainability Carnival” fair with activities and games for folks to participate in. Sustainival’s have featured sustainable fashion shows, guest speakers, and more.

Some of our previous participants have included organizations such as CALPIRG, Orange County Goodwill, California State Parks, Climate Action Campaign, Irvine Ranch Water District, and many on-campus organizations.
