The UC’s made a pledge to reduce their carbon footprint to zero emissions by 2025 and we hope to echo and continue to expand that mission. We’re excited to bring you the Conserve Cali Challenge 2016 in partnership with Turning Green and the Association for the Advancement of Sustainability in Higher education (AASHE). The challenge takes shape as a competition among participating members within UCI over who can save the most carbon emissions. Starting Oct. 17th through Oct. 31st, all faculty, undergraduate, and graduate students can participate to win $100 or a sector 9 skateboard. Our app’s geofence technology and SSID matching database will serve as the tool to record data throughout the competition.

Participation is extremely easy:
1. Download My Open Road and register.
2. Account settings>Additional Info>School>University of California, Irvine (see your ranking among other anteaters).
3. Bike/walk/carpool anywhere and everywhere!

When you register under University of California, Irvine you’ll be able to see who else is registered and your ranking based on your social responsibility score. The higher your score, the higher your ranking, the more sustainable you are. Let’s work together to reach our goal of zero carbon emissions sooner than expected!
